The North of Chile consists of the arid Atacama desert and  borders onto Peru,Bolivia,and Argentina.

 Also in the North are some great parks like Lauca National Park.

 The Atacama Desert in the North of Chile is the driest place on Earth.To fly from Santiago the nearest Provincial airport is Calama. Which is the support town for one of the biggest Copper mines in the World.

A short one hour bus ride from Calama is the tourist Village of San Pedro de Atacama which is a good base to explore the Desert.
